Copenhagen is a play by Michael Frayn, based on an event that happened in Copenhagen in 1941: a meeting between the physicists Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg, and Bohr, and Bohr’s wife Margrethe. What a play this is, sometimes very heavy in places, certainly a play that keeps one’s brain occupied. I particularly liked the open stage with just three stools and isometric flooring, this hit you as you walked into the theatre - so professional, constructed by Richard Harvey, added to this we had exceptional lighting (Tim Walden.)

With a superb cast of only three, they must be the best actors I have ever had the pleasure of reviewing. Barrie Ward gave us a perfectly directed piece of theatre, he directed his actors, to a very high standard, they had perfect diction and projection. Stuart Lock portrayed Neils Bohr strongly, like a father figure to Werner, his prescence on stage captivated me. Gareth Brownwell (Werner Heisenberg) gave us as very solid performance as the protégé of Bohr. Helen Hardwick (Margrethe Bohr) - what a lovely performance you gave us as the long-suffering wife, captivating, even when you were just sitting listening...superb. Goes to show - take three experienced actors and give them perfect direction, put them on stage together and your audience have the best there is in theatre.

This Copenhagen deserved more of an audience, than on Friday night, I was glad I was one of the lucky ones of twenty. Thank you, Barn Theatre, for such a good night at Copenhagen.
