Murder Play by Brian J Burton, The Rats by Agatha Christie, Bang, You’re Dead! By Paul Reakes

The evening brought three one-act plays under the umbrella title of ‘Consequences’. In each, there was intrigue, dark humour and twists and turns galore. The plays worked very well together with their linked theme and made for an enjoyable evening.

In Murder Play, a married couple Peter and Robyn wake up the morning after a dinner party still reeling from the fact that they had been sacked by friend and host only to be set reeling when a further shock is revealed by their boss’ wife who admits to having murdered her husband but frames Robyn for the crime.

In The Rats, adulterous lovers, are invited to a friend’s flat for drinks only to discover that no one is home. What initially seems to be a simple mix-up of dates turns out to be something more sinister when they are locked into the flat and framed for murder.

Bang You’re Dead brought a clever plot with unexpected twists and turns, the actors made very good use of the relatively short play to flesh out the story and keep us on the edge of our seats.

The director had put together three plays which followed a murderous theme with plenty of twists and turns. Each was well developed and kept the audience wondering what was going to happen next. The plays were well cast with each of the groups of four actors working well together and developing believable relationships. They had good line delivery with excellent diction and volume, communicating the play plots clearly.
