~~It may have been cold outside, but LCBP warmed the audience with a most amusing version of Cinderella.  A sparkling silver fairy waved her magic wand and poor old Baron Hardup marries penniless but extravagant Baroness, towing behind her two obnoxious uglies trying to get their man but surely failing! A variety of woodland animals, two comic workmen, an incognito prince looking for love – you’ve got the picture?
Cast photos were posted on the screen inside the hall, as well as winning display of their NODA Drama Certificate Award.  Designed by Jac Young and Lyn Ford, the A5 black and white programme was a simple publication containing clear, important information, a friendly message from the Director - hopefully encouraging participants for the future.
Backdrops, were attractive with Stoneybroke Village nicely depicted. The single door worked well for exit and entrances and the kitchen range plus spider in the corner looked effective for the slapstick routine. Cinder’s carriage was cleverly constructed and dressed, as was the attractive grand entrance for the Palace Ballroom scene. The ‘fourman’ team did a fine job.
Outfits provided were both eye-catching and colourful.  Wonderful fluorescent wigs for Gertrude and Grizelda, animal masks, ghosties, well turned out principal boys and beautiful transition gown for Cinders.  The comedy pair looked the part in overalls and initialled safety helmets, accompanied by a wheelbarrow and props including a rather large hammer!
Margaret Smart headed musical numbers, accompanying on keyboard, however, vocals were somewhat tentative at times. She worked really hard throughout and assisted the stand in Baroness to get her songs across.
Graham Payne, turning his hand to all things theatrical was in charge of Sound and Lighting.
Script was at times wobbly, however, the cast dealt extremely well in the circumstances with Rona Morton being poorly and stalwart Helen Bridger stepping into the breach. Looking most elegant she read the part beautifully. Choreography was arranged by Amanda Lacey and performed by the attractively dressed, dance troupe from Lacey Theatre Arts. Lyn both directed and performed as Prince Charming, a difficult task, with Fleur Sayers SM and performing the part of Buttons, whilst we the audience looked after her bunny in a box!  Again, doubling up as stage crew Jamie Knight projected beautifully as Chambers. Malcolm Atfield and Richard Baszczak played Gertrude and Grizelda with cheek who managed their long frocks with ease and what lovely makeup chaps! The ladies, Fleur as Buttons with his delightful bunny, Lyn as Charming and Imogen Beale as Dandini strutted their stuff, Cinders was gently played by Jac (also wardrobe), Elisabeth Doust spun her silver magic in rhyme, whilst Ken Duce and Jenny Taylor executed the panto corn with aplomb.  Principals were supported by the ladies and the young ladies of the Chorus throughout.
