CUDOS created a family friendly pantomime with a modern twist!! Delighting children from 2 to 92! Faith, Hope and Charity (40’s Andrews Sisters sound-alikes) beautifully sang and narrated the storyline throughout the pantomime. Ray Norris making his CUDOS debut made an instant connection with the audience, as cheeky chapie Buttons his gentle caring persona made him the perfect friend for Cinderella the girl of his dreams! Cinderella (Kerianne Davies) has a sweet singing voice and a natural innocence in her acting ideally suited to her role. Singing together ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ couldn’t fail to melt even the hardest of hearts!

Comedy came in different guises but the most dominant in the form of sisters ugly ‘Well Jell’ Hyacinth and Hibiscus (Nick Harris and Richard Walters) they were like two rejects from TOWIE! These two really are masters of their craft! Cruel and funny but never offensive. Fairy Godmother (Angie Eason) was given a makeover! No sequins or glitter! She was planted in the audience concealed in an overcoat, when revealed she was dressed in a plain grey dress topped of with a white berry, this wasn’t your usual FG! She was dithery and muddled and looked and sounded like Pam Ayres! Great acting FG. One of the highlights was when she presented Fairy Wings to her little fairy graduates! CUDOS had a strong line up of principals and each played their character with gusto!

Choreography was kept simple and most of the dancing was performed by the children who made good use of the limited space. Overall singing was strong and it was nice to bring in music which the younger cast and audience relate to! Hyacinth and Hibiscus costumes were beautifully garish! Set design was simple and effective and worked well complementing the overall production with careful attention given to both detail and colour. This was an original take on a family favourite. Congratulations to all.
