A set should complement and accentuate the action of the stage, this set was both traditional and a glorious work of art. The subtle elements of humour added depth and intrigue. Costumes were bright and well-co-ordinated, creating a colourful picture alongside the beautiful set. Choreography was well executed and it was obvious a huge amount of work has gone into this. The opening of Act 2 had an engaging level of energy, ‘Raining Men’ provided a smile inducing moment set amongst the audience. The ‘bunnies’ dance by Lyme School of Ballet was very cute and a lovely moment in the show. The young lady playing the fox had lovely stage presence, unusual for someone so young and commanded a solo dance, keeping the audience gripped. Musical numbers were well rehearsed, ‘Anything You Can Do’ sang by Asphyxia and Euthansia, which got a well-deserved audience cheer and the ‘magic’ moment of the show.
Cinderella created a sweet underdog character that was believable. The moment Cinderella and Prince Charming met, I felt the magic had begun. Buttons, brought a good level of energy to the stage with good speed of delivery. The tap dance had excellent energy levels and good charisma and deservingly got the biggest clap of Act 1. Euthanasia and Asphyxia, were loved by the audience due to their unfaltering characterisation, boundless energy and excellent ‘sister dynamic’. Their character portrayal was the highlight of the show. It was lovely to see such younger member of the society taking lead roles and delivering them well.
