Home written Cinderella 2, After the Ball, told the story of what happened to Cinderella a year after the ball where she met Prince Charming. This was such a great pantomime and a triumph for the creative team and cast. It was an excellent script with an original concept and the cast under the direction of the creative team made the most of it. Their line delivery and comic timing were slick and punchy, and they never missed a beat with the corny jokes and audience participation. The production was perfectly cast with each of the principals giving excellent performances supported by good adult and youth chorus members. The principals had strong vocals, singing with great expression and they were well supported by the large ensemble. All the cast had developed believable characterisations and relationships, and they performed with great comic timing, physicality and vivid facial expressions.

There were so many clever and creative elements to the pantomime which added a huge amount to our enjoyment. It is impossible to list them all, without making this review too long, but I must mention the moving objects in the witches’ lair whilst Prince Charming and his sidekicks were invisible, as it was genius. I looked so hard but couldn’t see how it was done! The chase video was also a brilliantly creative addition to the show and had the audience in stitches. The audience were engaged throughout, lapping it up from beginning to end as the panto romped along with energy and pace.
