Abergavenny Pantomime Company are back in the Borough Theatre at last!!
The excitement and anticipation in the brand new fabulous theatre was electric!!
A brilliant light show started off a really great night of pantomime with an energised Chorus singing and dancing for joy, with all the brilliant cast giving us laughter and so much fun. Cinderella is ever popular, the favourite of everyone. One of APC’s best, and a very clever touch, naming the fairy tale town where this pantomime takes place Abergavonia!
A welcome return for Richard Poynter as a lively Buttons, a super performance, linking all the scenes and trying his best to appeal to a charming Cinderella from Molly Brickley Clark, fabulous as Cinders and her beautiful golden voice reached the roof. Good chemistry with Dandini well played by Hermione Williams and Prince Charming Kayleigh Barton. Cait Davies, stepping in at the eleventh hour as Fairy Godmother was outstanding, fabulous voice, the transformation scene, perfection.
Many characters add to the action Baron and Baroness Hardup Peter Holder, the master of dry wit and his bossy wife Marilyn Balkwill, A marvellous Herald from Geraint Webb, and a good King Jon Newsom and a regal Queen from Andrea Marfell the two hilarious ones were Grabbit and Scarper Christie Barton and Cara Sevenoaks. We all love to hate those Ugly Sisters and these two, Halitosis Joe Pugh and Diarrhoea Stephen Clark were outrageous super stars, a great duo, the slipper trying on scene with the extra leg, side splitting, all the theatre was in an uproar!
Thank you for your very kind hospitality President Ken, you should all be justifiably very proud of all the hard work to get this pantomime on stage again so well done and also thanks to Jon and Backstage.
I did miss seeing Chairman Ken Jones on stage his great voice and his gold shoes!
Very well done to Director/MD and Choreographer, Jackie and Molly Brickley Clark.
This was just what was needed in Abergavenny on a cold Winter night. Seeing all those happy faces on stage singing and dancing for everyone, happy little children waving light sticks, and that glittering Finale scene a memory to take home.
Fantastic!!
