This Pantomime had a little different storyline to the traditional one with a very humerous Fairy and the Buttons role played by a girl. The Fairy Queen (Sarah Roberts) opened the show with a very clever introduction full of humour and a gin and tonic with slice of lemon. She controlled the show giving a very confident performance. Alex Bush (Buttons) was the first girl Buttons I have seen and she worked hard but found it difficult to capture the charm this role demands. Emily Walker (Cinderella) played her part with a likeable style sung and acted with great assurance. Becky Thompson was a stylish Prince Charming singing and acting with great confidence and was well supported by Sophie Moss (Dandini) especially when they combined to sing a duet. The comedy was well supplied by Sarah Clarkson and Mia Norton as Tik and Tok they both worked very hard giving a most enjoyable and energetic performance. Richard Goodall as Baron Hardup was just right as the downtrodden husband very nicely underplayed . Eleanor Aldous as the baddie Baroness Hardup mother of The Ugly Sisters was suitably outrageous and gave a most eyecatching portrayal in this important role. Lee Gray and Tom Bucktrout as The Ugly Sisters Malaria and Rubella did not have as much to do in this panto as they usually do but they supplied the usual traditional OTT costumes and worked well with the baroness. The chorus sung the many numbers very well and the 'This Is The Moment' duet by the Fairy Queen and one of the chorus members was outstanding by any standards.
