Expectations are always high with a Wayfarers production and yet again they didn’t disappoint. From the opening number to the final curtain call the audience were enthralled, and many of the tinier members happily chattered throughout the interval about the spectacular transformation scene ….. but more about that later. The dynamic trio that had created this fairy tale had ensured no comedy moments, dance steps or musical nuance were missed and the cast gave 150% throughout right down to the two most adorable Pages in the palace. Cinderella moved and sang with poise and was well matched by her Prince, Buttons although never winning the heart of Cinders certainly won the heart of his audience. The Ugly sisters matched each other perfectly with their nonsense and the Baron and Baroness certainly had their hands full. But the comedy gold star must go to Bodget and Leggett who had everyone in stitches with their crazy capers, even when the rogue wheelbarrow tried to steal the limelight they used the moment to gain extra giggles – perfect comic timing and a partnership made in heaven. The dancers and ensemble brought the village of Stoneybroke to life with vivacious energy looking stunning in a rainbow of colour. Costumes had been thoughtfully chosen and suited each individuals character and themed for each scene enhancing the whole visual aspect along with the scenery from Scenic Projects Ltd. Now on to the scene everyone was talking about, the magical transformation, before our eyes the twirling Cinderella transformed her gown from rags to riches but the vision of her carriage became the dream of many a Cinders wannabe sitting in awe. A delicate crystal carriage drawn by a Pegasus took Cinders skyward as the gauze closed and the flight commenced, finding this beautiful piece of stage wizardry from Imagine Theatre Ltd certainly gave this production that little bit of extra magic. Thoughtful, magical and heart-warming the Wayfarers brought sunshine into a chilly January in Taunton…congratulations everyone.
