This was an enjoyable and well-presented mixture of Old Time and Christmas songs presented in six performances over two weeks.
A cast of just over 20 performed with their usual enthusiasm and talent in the main group numbers which included an opening Christmas selection, a very good set of Tongue Twisters such as The Woodchuck, Proper Cup of Coffee and Peter Piper and a tribute to the end of World War 1.
The second half opened with a trip around the world whilst a twist on the Nativity closed the show, although the latter perhaps didn’t hit the right notes with me.
Individuals were given a chance to perform in the group and solo spots and I particularly enjoyed ‘I Married a Wife’ (Kenneth Davison), ‘They Don’t Make Them Like That Anymore’ (Pauline Pope), ‘A Glass of Champagne’ (Maggie Davies) and ‘The Boy I Love’ (Bethany Sanderson). Another lovely number was ‘It’s only a Beautiful Picture’ which was performed by Eric Hart and there was a funny Tommy Cooper style magic show from Richard Mainprize. The whole thing was linked by The Chairman, Malcom Sparks.
The costumes were super, choreography about right and lighting fine.
A welcome start to the festive season.
