Christmas has truly arrived in Wombwell!

Wombwell Operatic Society delighted audiences with their latest offering, Christmas Miscellany.

With songs as diverse from The First Noel and O Come All Ye Faithful to Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, there was something in this concert for everyone.

This production was cleverly directed by Adele Murray. Adele had some very good ideas which were executed flawlessly by the talented cast. I particularly liked the light isolation for when members of the cast were delivering their Christmas inspired poems, my favourite being Santa is a Yorkshireman hilariously performed by Sue Gent.

The costumes were just right too, with the ladies in their stunning Christmas dresses and gentlemen in matching waistcoats.

The ensemble numbers were great and Jasmine Gillespie and Marilyn Sykes managed to get a great sound out of the company with some nice harmonies.

During the interval, the cast came into the audience and served us with a mince Pie and a glass of sherry, just what was needed to get us all in the Christmas mood.

Congratulations to all involved in this production, it certainly got us all in the festive spirit.
