This was my second visit to the famous YAODS Christmas Concert, standing in for my colleagues, Sally Holmes and Pam Booth, (lovely to see them both on stage). It is always a delight to see so many friendly faces both on the stage and in the audience. The pre-Christmas buzz of anticipation round Yeadon Town Hall was very much in evidence!

Once again, the choir, in fine voice drawn not only from YAODS but other local societies, were led and conducted by Pam Beck, who had chosen both well-known and unusual songs with the spirit of Christmas in mind.

They were joined by the wonderful Otley Brass Band, conducted by the talented and effervescent Will Rowson - this young man never ceases to amaze the audience with musical tricks - the highlight this year was a 'German Bierkeller' song, with Will encouraging the choir and the audience in audacious singing and movement! What a personality! As usual, there were plenty of Christmas compilations from the Band, which had the audience cheering and clapping.

Children from the Peace Dance Academy entertained with selections from the musical 'Elf' and 'Mathilda', demonstrating a maturity and style beyond their years, a treat to see.

Comperes, husband and wife team Helen and Angelo Clark linked the programme expertly (and we loved Angelo's jokes! Sorry Helen!)

As usual, the stage was prettily decorated and front-of-house worked hard to provide mulled wine and mince pies to a packed house. It was wonderful to see a full Town Hall - My wish for the New Year is that this audience continues to support amateur theatre, not just for Christmas but throughout the coming year!
