Christmas spirit certainly is in the air in Wombwell, as Wombwell Musical Theatre Society presented their latest offering, Christmas At Your Request.

The first act, focused on songs from our most beloved musicals. From Oklahoma! to Hamilton, this act had something for everyone. The act started with an excellent rendition of Oh What A Beautiful Morning by Malcolm Hyde. Malcolm has beautifully rich baritone voice which echoed through the theatre. Lucy Cooper excelled throughout the entire the production, with excellent vocals, and wonderful stage presence. Whenever I go to watch a concert, Les Miserables is always a crowd pleaser. The harmonies in this section were beautiful and I must mention the hilarious  performance of Sue Gent in the Master of the House number. She brought the house down.

Act 2 was all about our favourite festive songs, which included an audience sing-a-long. Jenny Dixon proves what a great performer she is with her interpretation of I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas. The 12 days After Christmas performed by the always impressive Anne Wakeford, Janice Parkin, Josephine Owen, Kim Cooper and Sue Gent created laughter throughout the audience.

Many congratulations to all who took part in this festive production, especially the directors; Adele Murray and Chris Wakeford. I left the theatre full of the spirit of the season.
