My first visit to the Coliseum this year was to watch Colstars perform Chitty Chitty Bang Bang adapted for the stage by Jeremy Sams.

This is a well known story about the poor inventor who buys a dilapidated racecar for his children only to find out that the car is magical. It follows the story of the Potts family and the crooks from Vulgaria trying to steal the car

The set hired in by Derek from Scenery Solutions worked really well and I also loved all the costumes used in the show.

There are a large number of roles in this show and it would be each actor portrayed their character really well.

The company are to be congratulated on having such a strong base with all the ensemble working well with some really funny scenes. I especially liked “ Me ol bamboo, The Bombie Samba and Roses of success.”

The roles of The childcatcher and the Toymaker were taken by Brogan Rogers and Gwilym Mcturk well done both.

Grandpa Potts was played by Roderic Davies who certainly looked the part and gave a great characterisation of the role.

Boris and Goran the hapless robbers were played by Tom Morgan and Kieran Griffiths, these two actors worked really well together and had some really funny scenes.

Baron Bomburst / Lord Scrumptious was played by Damon Miles and his relationship with Kelly Jones as Baroness Bomburst worked really well. I loved all their scenes together “Chu Chi face  was great and as I previously mentioned I loved Kelly’s Bombie Samba with the dancers.

Jemima and Jeremy in the performance I saw were played by  Maddison Platt and Willow Hawkins, both of these young actors did really well with the both of them having a lot of work on stage. Congratulations both.

Truly was played by Sarah Cegielski and I really enjoyed her performance. Sarah had a lovely singing voice and worked really well with the children.

The role of Caractacus was taken by Henley Cegielski who really shone in the part. Henley gave a great performance and I really enjoyed his rendition of “Hushaby Mountain”, and “Doll on a music Box “ with Sarah.

This was a lovely production of this well known musical by Colstars, it was colourful some lovely dance routines and vocal performances given with good support from The Alternative Orchestra well controlled by MD Joseph.

Congratulations to Derek and all the cast and crew on a very enjoyable evening.
