After a wet, windy and miserable day how lovely to arrive at the Regal to such a warm welcome and then the added bonus of seeing the house fill to capacity and hearing the excited buzz from your audience.
‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ is a huge show, an ambitious undertaking for any society to attempt and I am sure that after the initial excitement of securing the rights you all took a deep breath and thought ‘okay let’s go for it’ and go for it you certainly did. How fortunate you are to have such strength in all your departments to be able to successfully present all the elements needed to stage this fantastic (in the true sense of the word) story.
Right from the start we were treated to a colourful, energetic and well-paced piece. I was impressed in equal measures by every aspect of the presentation as were your thoroughly appreciative audience. It was obvious that everyone involved both onstage and behind the scenes whether in the wings or in the musician’s area were totally committed to making sure that everything worked well. There were some standout individual performances from your adult Principals - well done to all. The children were particularly remarkable, with character roles worthy of a professional stage. Very well done indeed.
Of course, the star of the show was ‘Chitty’ herself. What an amazing piece of stage construction. I was absolutely knocked sideways by the skill and inventiveness that had gone into Chitty and her transformations into floating and flying car. Then added to that were all the other pieces of your own construction that were used throughout the show all of which were of the very highest standard indeed. Amazing.
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire presentation and it was obvious from the applause and cheers that my fellow audience members did too. Having heard lovely comments from audience members as they left the house after the show It was lovely to drive home humming the show tunes to myself. Well done everyone.
Thank you for your kind invitation and I look forward to supporting you with future productions.
