Carousel is a great show to do if you have the singers! Centre stage certainly had that and more!

Billy played by Liam Mabin made a convincing leading man as did leading lady, Sylvie Hodgson-Smith as Julie. Their singing was superb, you could hear a pin drop in “If I loved you” Brilliant

Jigger (Cameron Woosley) came over well and Carrie (Lucy Sansom) got the character just right and made the role her own. Jack Woodthorpe as Mr Snow gave a good strong performance.

“June is busting out all over” was sung with verve, Rebecca Jackson as Nettie gave this song her all along with a strong chorus.

One of the show stoppers “You’ll Never Walk Alone “sung by Nettie, was simply stunning. “What the use of wondrin’”? was beautifully and sensitively performed by Julie Bigelow.

The main characters were well supported by a strong and enthusiastic cast.

The show was well directed by Sue Bonnet and the choreography was good, especially in the “dream” sequences. The Orchestra sounded superb under the good direction of M.D. Jeremy Rawlings.

The costumes looked super and the minimalist set was all that was needed as the story and the music are the message. The use of the turntable was very effective, with the constant theme of the carousel, symbolic of the never-ending circle of life. The lighting was mainly good, though at times, solo singers were left in the shade.

Thank you once again to Centre Stage, another skilled performance of a show.  Thoroughly enjoyed by all.
