Presenting a panto twist on the tale of Peter Pan Roadwater Players began the festive season with true community spirit. The packed village hall buzzed with excitement and as the curtain revealed those hideously ugly!!! Pirates we were off to Neverland on board Hooks ship to attempt to defeat Pan…of course Pan wins the day as always but who cares if you’re having fun. It was lovely to see the wide age group on the stage, the smiley little squaws and the burly pirates all enjoying the fun. But we can’t forget Peter and his lovely Wendy or the horrid Hook who guided us through the story in true JM Barrie style, believable and controlled as the chaos of pantoland took over the story. On a tiny stage direction, choreography and music can be a challenge but this was beautifully handled by the team, there was more movement than in the past and this worked really well and the principal dancers brought a little sparkle to Chief Passingwater’s camp.

There were  some really shiny STAR performances; one who must be mentioned was gorgeous Michael, what a fab little actor you are, totally at ease on stage and giving the grown-ups a real run for their money and dear Dotty Darling your crazy Mamma who’s dance moves in ‘It’s raining men’ were a real highlight. Also the lovely vocal soloist who transformed into young Tonkerbell, I hope we get to hear more of you in future. Roadwater may be a small village but attention to detail in the set and costumes make it all a visual feast, this year it even included a Crocodile ….a total pleasure in every way….well done everyone.
