Calendar Girls - The Musical

"Calendar Girls - The Musical" is a perfect choice for modern amateur musical societies as it has many featured female roles and teamwork is at its heart. Ricky Players captured this perfectly. The wonderful lyrics that Gary Barlow penned furthered Tim Firth's story about a group of women from Knapely's WI who produce a calendar featuring themselves in the nude with handicraft props strategically placed, to raise money in honour of one of the ladies' husband who dies of leukaemia. All the cast without exception (the ladies, their husbands and a few teenagers) led us brilliantly throught this heart warming story fully expressing all its pathos, comedy, teenage and old age angst, desire to support bereavement and bring joy and friendship back into the limelight.
