This was one of the last performances of this play since it was released for the amateur theatre  eighteen months ago. I atttended one of the first performances in Grassington and have seen three other productions in between. It is a lovely play with laughter and sadness throughout  and it deals with a subject many of us can empathise with.

Here we had a strong believable team of WI members who worked well together and brought out all the strong emotions of the story. There was a good friendly partnership between Annie (Jo Robinson) and Chris (Jo Clayton) and they had strong support from the rest of the cast. There were occasions when some individuals acted out to the audience rather than to each other.

The all important 'nude not naked' scene was well directed. I often wonder how long it has taken to rehearse this scene as timing is all important. The ladies really seemed to be having fun and the audience certainly were.

The church hall set was excellent but I was a little disappointed with John's field. The action here is very emotional and I would have liked to have seen more room for the cast to move about in.

The sound effects were effective with appropriate music to link the scenes and a lot of thought had gone into the props. The ladies' outfits were all well suited to their characters.

This was a well rehearsed and thoughtfully directed play and the capacity audience appreciated it to the full.
