This play presented a real challenge to the society, not only because of it’s subject but also because it was performed in the intimate Spotlight Theatre. However this production gave the cast the opportunity to overcome everything presented to them and they did so very well.
The play’s script is beautifully written and, performance wise, it would be wrong to single anyone out for a particular mention because I don’t believe you can do a show like this without great teamwork – and so it proved. The closeness of the cast was evident throughout and they showed all the laughter and tears that the ladies of the WI experienced at the time. As an example, the important photo shoot was handled with great expertise involving careful choreography and excellent use of lighting.
The society also worked hard to promote some good causes during the run and they were well rewarded by the enthusiastic ovations provided by full houses. Congratulations to everyone concerned.
