Well, whip crack away it certainly was, this show roared along taking to the stage with a WOW!

Fabulous projections set the authentic animated scene of the wild west and we were off!!!!

Monmouth Music Theatre gave their all to make this production go with a bang , never losing pace and creating their usual magic, and with new director, Matt Bryant, they were in safe hands and on course to success, with this famous and iconic musical.

Nothing like these older shows with their interesting storyline and fascinating characters.

Centre of this musical Calamity Jane, and Lizzie Nicholson-Wigg was a star as she performed the role of a lifetime so well, singing, dancing acting, bringing the many facets of of Calam’s personality alive. Her facial mannerisms were priceless and her energy was amazing! Her Wild Bill Hickock, Michael Kennedy, was the perfect match for her, his rich voice, stunning vocals, excellent diction, and warm personality, a great contrast.

MMT were lucky to have a whole line up of experienced principals who were all fabulous and excelled in their roles. Scott Hazledine as Henry Miller what a role he took, commanding the stage and a great voice.

Abigail Paul as Adelaide Adams in her first ever musical production was superb her lovely voice filled the theatre, it was stunning.

Jonathan Cory Jones really showed us what comedy was about in his role of Francis Fryer, a fantastic character actor and so professional. Chris Paul as the love interest of Calamity, Lieut. Danny Gilmartin, was suitably suave and played an excellent romantic lead. Heather Watts gave us an excellent Katie Brown, along with Marianne Bowen as Susan.

All the cameo roles were very well played, cocettish Can Can dancers from Maja,Leanne and Michelle, and all the Cowboys in rich voice and great harmonies from the ladies chorus with lively performances.

Stephen James as Rattlesnake gave a fabulous screamingly funny characterisation!

With a superb band of experienced musicians in full swing playing sympathetically for all the principals under the baton of the amazing Ruth Friend gave their expertise to this production.

Excellent back stage with thanks to Adam Wells in his last show as S.M. Lighting, sound, costumes and gun fire spot on!

This was a great night out in The Black Hills of Dakota. A really enjoyable well directed production with many highlights.

The audience leaving the theatre humming those famous songs said it all.

Thank you for your warm welcome, good to be with you again.
