Calamity Jane

A nine-piece orchestra producing gorgeously professional sounds for the overture started the uplifting experience, soon matched by the harmonies of the large, well-trained chorus, choreographed to good effect for the showstoppers but convincingly normal in between them, and the well-cast principals whose top-class dialogue was given hot on cue but interpreted with pauses so the characters’ real meanings came over clearly, with a performance of the name part fully worthy of such fine support.
