Bring Me Sunshine

We really do need sunshine this summer and the Haven Players certainly served it up to us last Friday!

It was a lovely summery revue which included songs, dancing, a singalong for the audience and even a game show.  It was hosted by stand up comedian Robbie Laing who did a good job in keeping everything running with some groan worthy jokes – all very good fun!

Everyone was dressed appropriately and I wouldn’t have been able to count the number of costume changes if I had tried!  Some costumes would have been from the Society’s stock, others the performers’ own and some made specially for the occasion.  Well done to Diane Baker and Mo Munday for ensuring that everyone looked just right.

All were in good voice but the backing track was perhaps a little too loud at times and I’m sure that this is quite difficult to get just right.  Everyone moved very well indeed thanks to Amy Baker’s choreography, assisted by Sarah Barden and Mo Munday.

The selection of songs was ideal and with that, together with the summery scenery, we felt we were basking in what the season should bring us.  As I write this, summer seems to have arrived  but for how long!!

Also, the programme was well designed with well thought out illustrations.  Just a thought, if room could be found for a bigger mention of NODA, it’s possible that the programme could be entered into the NODA Programme Competition in the future.

So much work goes into bringing a show like this to fruition so thanks to all involved, not only on the stage but backstage as well, never forgetting those who provide the very welcome interval refreshments.

Amy and Geoff Baker are to be congratulated for bringing this seasonal show to Polegate and surrounding area.  The audience was quite small on the night we were there and I hope there were more at the rest of this short but well devised run.  Those who didn’t make it missed a treat!
