How lovely to see an old show with the delightful music and lyrics by Lerner and Loewe, such a different show for All Souls Amateur Operatic Society, a gentle move away from their more traditional productions of operetta. Brigadoon is a little village that appears in the mist for one day every hundred years. Two strangers come across a little bridge that transports them into the magical village that gave us this wonderful love story. It started a little slowly but soon picked up pace. The company's enthusiasm was evident throughout the lively production, with lots of movement from the chorus. Tommy Albright (Brian Harrison) and Fiona MacKeith (Amy Ellison) were vocally strong and complimented each other. Good characterisations from the vivacious Meg Brockie (Christine Roberts) and Jeff Douglas (Peter Skelton) as she chases him amorously around the stage, producing lots of laughter as they brought out the comedy. The story is convincingly told by Mr.Murdoch the Dominie (Tony Sutcliffe), and the other principals all portrayed their roles well providing good support. The three lovely dancers were a delight to watch and smiled all the way through the production. The stage crew worked hard to keep the show moving along. The company was accompanied by just two pianos as always under the direction of M.D. Colin Akers. Congratulations to the new producer Graham Weston.
