This well written, funny and entertaining script was the perfect vehicle for this group of young people – the first act focussed on a youth drama group about to perform Peter Pan whilst reflecting on theatrical superstition and the impact on one member of the young cast as members of the group mysteriously became unable to perform.  The second act saw the whole cast transported to a fairytale world where things were not quite as you would expect…This moralistic tale by the company's own David Knights was a great story and interspersed with familiar songs that had been brilliantly adapted to suit the characters singing them.
The script was very well balanced, giving every young person the opportunity to take part and play at least one named character.  All the young people gave their absolute best and were word perfect.  Sevi Ledgard  cleverly choreographed the routines to showcase the talents of this group which covers a wide age range.  All the performers were super – they created their own persona and took this identity with them through into the second act when they were playing a character playing another character….Not an easy task.  Without mentioning all 24 young people on stage I feel it would be unfair to pick out one or two, but I must say that the group of Lost Boys and the Pirates (who were amongst the youngest on stage) had some fabulous energy and comic timing.
The use of the full stage added to this year’s production and the sets were impressive – particularly the cave which made great use of this relatively small production space.  The stage crew swiftly adapted the set for the second half and the brightly painted scenery added to the show. Sound and light were to a high standard and the young people coped very well with radio mikes.
Overall we had a fantastic evening watching this very talented group of youngsters, who along with the adults who support them clearly put in a huge amount of hard work. This group has a very mature approach to the theatre – they share the stage, demonstrate empathy and always give a fabulous performance.  Well done to everyone involved.
