A British musical based on the pop music of the 1970's, written by Jon Conway. A funny heart-warming story of Roddy a jack-the-lad character whose life is full of girls, booze and boogie music. This happy go-lucky life is just about to be turned upside down. His girl friend Debs thinks he is a male chauvinist but she loves him even though he has a roving eye, and she knows he loves her too in his own way.
Played on an open stage full of brilliant lighting we were immediately transported back into the 70's at a typical Disco evening. All the characters were well cast and the show zipped along at a good pace.
In this production all the principals complimented each other. Roddy, (James Preston) who also narrated the show, and girl friend Debs (Ysanne Morill) excelled in both singing and movement. Their best friends, Terry and Trish (Martin Welsh, Vickie Hawkins) performed well together. Spencer and Lorraine, (Jai Jai Ekins, Emma Gray) were both confident in their roles. Eamon, (James Creegan) - Roddy's Dad, the Elvis Presley fan, gave a good convincing performance. Last but not least Dean, (Dean Patrick) who eventually stole Debs away from Roddy, performed well throughout.
A good strong dancing chorus worked extremely hard from start to finish, the effective colourful costumes were perfect for the era. The Orchestra was at times a little too loud and we did lose the words occasionally. A thoroughly enjoyable evening's entertainment, keep up the good work.
