Entering the foyer, there seemed quite a buzz of excited audience and after the obligatory purchase of my raffle tickets, I took my place in the auditorium. The nine piece band, under the excellent leadership of Gem Tunley started and played with real confidence at a good lick. The set was a relatively simple design, with a church on stage right and an open decking section stage left. It left plenty of space ffor the chorus and principles to use to good effect, and this they certainly did. Scene change blackouts were kept to a minimum, so the show flowed well.

This was Director Rory Blincow's directorial debut with SMS and used his obvious stage experience to good effect. The scene changes were undertaken mostly by the cast and they were slick and quick which kept the show flowing well. The choreography by Rosie Blincow, was simple and effective, all the cast knew where they were supposed to be and when. Their movements were confident and obviously well rehearsed, and this confidence came over very well to the audience. Diction throughout, both verbal and sung was, in the main, very good, especially given that the Point Theatre is traditionally difficult to get the sound right, but here very little was lost and we were able to keep up with the story well. The staging was also very well and atmospherically lit, again with good cast movement and a simple set worked well. The principles all played their roles very well with Megan Jones and Bonnie and Harry Taylor at Clyde acting the parts with real confidence and clarity. They were very well backed up by Jim Smith as Clyde's Brother Buck, Angharad Morgan as his wife Blanche as well as Liam Baker, Kenny Adgegbola and Jenni Connelly all performing very well.

It was really great to see a very different and lesser-known show, rather than the repetition of more popular shows that seem to be doing the rounds, and I am very pleased to say I enjoyed it immensely and that SMS delivered a more than creditable show. Well done everyone, a great evening.
