A new script written by Peter Mitcheson, June Stevens and Annette Ward suited this community production to a tee. A rural village understands the trials and tribulations of lost sheep and that was the underlying theme, who stole the sheep……well the wicked Gorgon and his henpecking harridan wife Gargoyla, who else! Pretty Bo Peep and her handsome (traditional Principal Boy) Boy Blue as expected (with a little help from the fairies) solved the mystery and brought happiness and love back to Lambton Poppleford just in time for fun and laughter.
The production opened with the setting of the tale by the sparkling magical characters and soon we were off on our tuneful journey with lots of colour and smiles. Much hilarity was caused by the zany antics of Woolly Willy Crochet ( a young lady who we have seen blossom over the last few years into a great comedienne) and his!!! Glamorously weird mother Dame Crochet, whose dancing prowess, was a highlight! These two have a great on stage rapport that kept the panto zapping along. PC Shamks also deserves a special mention, this young man has great potential and we all look forward to seeing him develop under the watchful and supportive Chardstock team. Visually, musically and technically a pleasure to watch, it was certainly the worlds woolliest pantomime ….. A great night of giggles, thank you.
