The Penelopiad
Sinodun Players, The Corn Exchange, Wallingford
Presenting this play in a black curtained box with no scenery in such an intimate space was both a risk and a challenge, along with the requirement that the roles of seven 7 year olds are taken by actors. However the audience was completely absorbed by the world in which these children existed. Portrayals were pitched at just the right level to create the illusion that these really were children rather than adults play acting. There was clear directorial vision in addressing the multiple themes covered by the play and realised in this performance.
