Theatrical productions present not insignificant challenges on two fronts. The first is to ensure that characterisations remain true to the original television series without becoming slavish impersonations. In this respect, Erith Playhouse achieved just the right balance, with a full Wednesday night audience well satisfied with the result. However, while over forty scenes can be changed swiftly through the magic of television, the same facility is not available in a theatrical setting. It was therefore a pity that otherwise well-directed short scenes were compromised in pace by changes in between.
