With a simple but very effective set and a great group of youngsters this show was sure to be a hit and judging by the sell out audience who were there on the last night it was pure enjoyment for all.

The youngsters on stage were full of enthusiasm and all gave their all to ensure the show went well, there were some great performances from Eve Gregory and Amy Abdy as the Narrators, these two young ladies ensured that everyone could hear their lines which were delivered perfectly. I was also pleased with the performance by Olivia Bell who played the Prince/Beast, not an easy thing to do playing two contrasting parts one of which she had to wear a mask to get the character right but she pulled it off with ease to enable the audience knew exactly who she was in each given scene.

Olivia needed someone to play opposite in order for her to get the most from her part and she need not have worried as Jessica McMahon as Belle was exactly what the character called for, she has a sweet voice and delivered both the songs and her lines to perfection.

In the palace most people will know the various characters who have been put under the spell to become articles rather than people, here we had several youngsters who had no problems in keeping up their respective characters, Libby Quince as Lumiere, Poppy Croydon-Smith as Babette, Hannah Dalton as Mrs Potts, Melissa Wilson as Chip, Ava Richards as Cogsworth and Caitlin O’Grady as Madame De La Grande Bouche were all excellent.

I was also impressed with Daniel Jackson as Gaston, the handsome hero who believes all the young girls are after him only to realise his heart’s desire, Belle is more interested in her books than him.

Others worth mentioning were Isobel Newsam as the Old Beggar/Enchantress, Eva Lane as Lefou and Joe Cawton as Monsieur D’Arque who together with Jasmine Bull, Sienna Dale and Lucy Rice as the Silly Girls alongside the chorus of villagers etc gave a good clean enjoyable performance.

Congratulations to all for a most enjoyable evening.
