Not your normal take on this classic story, no clock, no candlestick, no wardrobe and no duster, however it somehow worked. The standard routines you might expect. Shout-outs, singalongs, and a relatively dignified slop scene all made appearances.
There was a really good atmosphere in the hall with an audience consisting of children, parents and grandparents and everyone participated in "booing and singing" in all the right places
Belle was played by Ruby Atlanta Boland who gave an excellent performance, supported by Dan Lambert as Price Tristan/Beast who also gave an excellent performance, i particularly liked the tone of his voice as the Beast.
Supporting cast was ably lead by Nigel Lewis as Dame Bessie, good faces evil was supplied by Luisa Gale as Fairy Gwendolen and Sally Bevan as Fairy Morgana who created lots of cheers and boo’s. Good comedy performance were given by Darren Edwards as Dilbert and Peter Owen as Donovan the classically trained actors. Good performances were also given by Doireann Gilmore, Angharad Sommerin, Adrienne Davey and Iain Mullet.
The principals were supported by an able, and in the main young chorus, many of which had an involvement in the script.
Costumes were bright and colourful, scenery was good and multifunctional which worked well. Lighting supplied by Lightsource Production Services worked well with both costumes and scenery.
Congratulations on a very enjoyable panto and look forward to seeing you all in 2018.
