Not your normal take on this classic story, no clock, no candlestick, no wardrobe and no duster, however it somehow worked. The audience consisted of children, parents and grandparents, everyone participated in "booing and singing" in all the right places
Ieuan Rhys Benney as the Wicked King Damon made the most of this part as the baddie and who received some well deserved boos!
Henley Cegielski as Good Prince Rupert gave a well-balanced and accomplished performance, excellent vocals.
Sarah Cegielski as the evil Rancidea gave a dark and sinister performance and worked the audience well and gave us maximum nastiness.
Zoe Lauren Philips as the Rose Fairy guided us through the story with a smile and had a good rapport with the audience.
Erin Brant as Beauty was delightful and confidently played.
Christopher Cule as Bertie Bountiful gave a good performance, good diction. His portrayal as the very fatherly Papa had a good rapport with Belle.
Tom kochalski as Little Willie is where the comedy elements fell, gave a strong performance and had the job of ‘Panto idiot’who more than did their part in promoting the fun.
Derek Williams as Dame Lucie Lastic clearly needed no introduction, and no encouragement, as his experience allowed him the luxury of performing ‘in the frock’ with some style.
A well-balanced cast with a variety of ages, talents and experience. The younger members of the cast were well disciplined. All on stage clearly were enthusiastic and relished the opportunity to entertain a most appreciative audience.
Costumes were bright and colourful, scenery was good and multifunctional which worked well.
Congratulations Colstars.
