Warmly welcomed as usual by Barbara Fairclough into a packed and eager foyer, I was shown to my seat and settled in for a great evening's entertainment.
Competent and confident performances from Katie Underill as Belle, Oliver Mitchell as the Beast and Jane Virgo as the Wicked Witch (boo hiss) were backed up by Paige Ottway, Emily-Rose Mould, Lizzie Diaper, as the Prince and Katie Wilson as the Essex girl, Monique. Lewis Pilpot as the Dame Madame Fifi with his two side kicks, Emily Hinton and Simon Virgo, brought humour and good comic timing too. Well choreographed and well-drilled, all the cast (even the children) knew what they were doing and a bright set with good lighting and sound (and reasonable diction) made sure that the story was understood and added to the fast pace that this show had. Well done to all.
