Beauty and the Beast

Argosy had problems with this NODA version of the pantomime seemingly written without regard to the effect of twelve second half scenes on scenery or the amount of plot to be put over, after a first half with a script lacking sparkling repartee but bloated with repetitive slanging matches and containing (in my view) a serious lapse in taste. A pity because everyone worked hard to achieve what was possible with their material, dancing and juvenile chorus were fine and designs and costumes imaginatively appropriate.
