Shakespeare's comedies are not always "funny" to the modern ear but EODS Productions have managed to bring real hilarity (and of course pathos) into this production with an extremely talented cast and excellent direction.

The setting for these annual treats is ideal - what more could Shakespeare have wanted than for his plays to be performed in such an idyllic spot as the Italian Gardens in Eastbourne?  The slightly raised square in the middle of the area happily doubled as an ideal space for a great deal of the action and, of course, a wrestling ring and the trees depicting the Forest of Arden were lovely and delightfully lit as the evening became darker.

The whole cast was superb, all bringing their characters to life and all were dressed so well by the costume team. The flock of very unruly human sheep were delightful! Chris Manville of Brighton Morris Men dealt with the choregraphy in true Morris style, with music provided by MD Michael Cullen and his band of talented players, with the addition of the songs, "Under the Greenwood Tree" and " Blow, Blow" using the very interesting settings from the National Theatre's production of the play.

So much work goes on behind the scenes and thanks are due to all those who give so much of their time and talents to the background organisation.  Many thanks of course to Director Neil Stocker and long may EODS Pproductions bring the works of the bard to this delightful south coast setting.
