The Penelopiad
Sinodun Players, The Corn Exchange, Wallingford
The play about the purchase of a completely white painting for a huge sum by one of three close friends (which ran for years from 1996) came up fresh and challenging in Proscenium's fine production, with the threats to their friendship, the attempts at reconciliation, the violence and the recriminations all ringing true and (surprisingly?) demanding our laughter. Each of the three actors, set in their different views, superbly defined his role, until in the end they realised that continued friendship was more important.
