~~
This was a very enjoyable evening, presented by ITKIDS, the Junior Section of Idle & Thackley Theatre Group, ages ranging from 4 to 16 years, devised and written by members of ITTG.  The music and dancing, with the help of backing tapes, took us around the world from England to New York, across America and beyond to Australia, New Zealand, Africa, back to Europe, Spain, Ireland etc.  The backing tapes, although mainly very helpful, posed somewhat of a problem at times because, obviously written in a key for adult voices, sometimes they were not compatible with the range of the voices of children and the soloists did, be it very capably, struggle.  This, however, did not do much to deter from the enjoyment of the evening.
The format was clever and presented in the form of a School Teacher (Ryan) who was instructing his classes in Geography and how to live together with other peoples of the world peacefully and in harmony.  The children, led by Hollie, very ably assisted by Catriona, Connor, Daisy, Joe, Lily, Megan, Ruby and all the other children ( totalling almost 30)  very capably  took us from one song and dance routine to another and with libretto interjections, which had been very well written by Katie Burton, were interestingly, clearly and enthusiastically delivered.  The choreography of the dancing was almost set to an adult standard and was very well performed by the children
This really was an evening to enjoy, the enthusiasm of children for the theatre and performing was evident to see.  The appreciation of the audience, mainly composed of the parents and supporters was a pleasure to listen to.
Well done ITKIDS, I look forward to next year’s show.
