Anything Goes

Monmouth Music Theatre sailed to great success with their enthusiastic and lively production of the classic Cole Porter musical Anything Goes an excellent company which goes from strength to strength. This timeless musical of life on the ocean wave could be seen on our stages for ever, a pleasant thought! Stage Director Andrew Griffiths sound production skills and the musical direction of Ian Russell ensure the highest standards Scenes came alive with innovative moves and dance routines from Choreographer Jenny Pickering, and it is obvious the cast have fun and enjoy being aboard this happy ship! Andrea Pole made an excellent Reno Sweeney with her perfect Angels, Chastity, Victoria Stephens Charity, Teresa Davies and Virtue, Lynda Foster The demanding role of Billy Crocker was very well played by Nick Thompson with lovely Louise Miller a convincing performer in every scene. Nicely over the top, Reuben Jones played Lord Evelyn Oakley to perfection.

Cedric Gibbons gave us a brilliant Elisha J Whitney controlling every move with panache a very good duo with Gay Rogers as Evangeline Harcourt 

Grahame Bryant brought Moonface Martin alive on stage, a great character actor working with Becca Caldicot, such good reactions as his moll Erma, and a fun rendition of Buddy Beware with her dancing saucy Sailors.  

All other parts were very well played including Captain, Cliff Smith Mary & Martha, Kate Downes & Judith Rossiter and Nelson Whaley as Henry T. Dobson

Ruby so cute as Cheeky the Dog deserved an Oscar!

Excellent costumes enhanced by ACE Costumiers always era correct, and set, lighting, backstage and sound were high quality, as we know important to get all these right in any production
