The curtains were open when we entered the auditorium. We were gently transported into “Coles”, a smoky Manhattan bar. Then onto the SS American ship sailing for Great Britain. The scenery was cleverly constructed with the orchestra set up on the top deck. Sliding doors revealed the different cabins and jail cells at different times in the show.
The show was full of great song and dance routines by the various characters on board. The “Anything Goes” tap dance routine was performed brilliantly by the cast at the end of part one.The choreography was slick and varied in the many different routines performed.
The costumes were great with lovely sparkly dresses for the ladies and suits for the gents, all were correct for the era. Well done to the wardrobe mistress. Well done to the orchestra who entertained us throughout and carried us from scene to scene. It is so lovely to have talented musicians who can play for live performances.
Well done to all the cast and crew for a wonderful performance. Thank you so much for inviting me and I look forward to your next performance.
