Annie Junior

This 'junior' version of the well-known musical Annie was brought vividly to life by these youngsters. However, because of licence conditions the music was provided by backing tracks which all the soloists and ensemble seemed perfectly at ease with. The use of backing tracks can be fraught with problems not least being the singers getting out of sync with the music. This was never the case in this polished and very well-rehearsed production.   The MD must have worked the soloists and ensemble very hard to have achieved the excellent results on display in the production. The vocals were clear and tuning spot on. Singing to backing tracks can prove to be challenging but everything went according to plan as far as I could tell - so again, many congratulations. Sharon Green once again not only showed her skills as an impressive choreographer with some wonderful routines and ‘pictures’ to be seen in all her very ‘accessible’ choreography but she also directed the production with pace and humour eliciting some fine performances from her young cast. I was particularly impressed with the maturity of the characterisations and the way characters interacted on stage. The pace was good and never slacked with entrances and exits being made swiftly and unobtrusively. Many congratulations!  All the principals gave strong and mature performances and were ably supported by an enthusiastic and very well rehearsed ensemble. Thank you for a fine and entertaining performance at all levels.
