A treat indeed! Three one act plays from the youngest to the oldest of the company and the audience was indeed appreciative of the talent they saw.
The juniors presented us with ‘Dragon Trouble’, the story being as the title suggests. There were some lovely performances here and a big well done must go to Ellie-Jo Cooper as the Narrator/Jester, Katie Patton and Molly Phillips as the Princesses Lily and Rose, Sophie Kneath as Susie, Ffion Addey as Dragon, Seren Thomas as Hook, Lily Connick as King Tortoise, Carys Shaw as Jackalope and Kian Davies as Magician. A great performance!
The young people of the senior youth of the company gave us a performance of ‘All Singing All Dancing’, a tale of the Jewish community and their fight for survival in any way they could when facing the Nazis. I was very impressed by the maturity with which these young people tackled the subject matter and was also impressed by the quality of the acting and especially the accents. Aaron Jones gave us a suitably ‘Churchillian’ portrayal of the Narrator, Rhys Davies was a very convincing Max, Regan Evans an excellent Halina, Carys Shaw moving from the junior company to this play with ease and great acting and Heather Rees as Anna, Catrin Rees as Izzy and Georgina Griffin as Lydia all performed well. It was a very powerful production of this cleverly written play.
The to end the evening we had a new play written by Robert Gould for the company, so we were treated to a world premier of ‘Independence Dai’, a play about the comedic fight by a small group of locals for ‘Abercwmboi’ to be independent from Wales. There were some great performances with Helen Patton interjecting as the Reporter, Anthony Evans fighting for independence as Che, Sarah Phillips as the AM and hostage Denise Walters-Jones, Russell Rees as the dozy Ghandi and a very feisty and sometimes menacing performance of Shirl given by Della Wyn Maryon.
Many congratulations to Glantawe for a memorable evening!
