It is indeed a challenge for any society to perform a play which is based on a successful and long running television series. The Phoenix Players, in this obviously well shortened version, made a bold effort to come to terms with the atmosphere and ambience of the original and succeeded.

The production was well balanced and entertained an appreciative audience with good timing and well rehearsed moves.

Frank Bardsley ( Rene ), Sue Briggs ( Helga ) and Michael Dodsworth ( Bertorelli) gave excellent portrayals of their characters. keeping within the framework of the part and resisting the temptation of going too far over the top. They were well supported by the rest of the cast who appeared to fling themselves into the show with great enthusiasm, the result of which was a good all round performance.

Staging and lighting were of a good standard, the set in particular reflecting careful study of the original.

Well done Phoenix Players
