The story, woven around Elvis’ songs, was typically far- fetched but absolutely hilarious! Ross Hoey, as guitar playing wanderer Chad, had all the hip swivelling moves and the voice to go with them! He anchored the show with confidence and humour. Sarah Toner who played Natalie, the grease-monkey, was natural and convincing. Dennis was played by Gordon Donaldson with comedic flounces and some of the best lines in the show – well delivered! Claire Keenan was beautiful and sophisticated as museum curator Sandra. Orla McCrickard, as Sylvia, was suitably mature and a bit cynical. Her daughter Lorraine (Sarah King) and boyfriend Dean (Christopher Poland) were well cast as a couple and sang well together. Erin Hoey took the role of Matilda the Mayor – her every expression displaying disapproval of anyone having fun! Brendan Totten, well cast as Earl, followed Matilda around like a puppy but was not allowed to express an opinion.

Of course, in the end, everyone realised who they really loved and was paired off successfully! An excellent choice of show for the youth group where girls significantly outnumbered boys. The all- female chorus did a great job with lively and enthusiastic dancing and singing. Pauline’s choreography was suitably 60s with plenty of rock ‘n roll. A simple set with several levels worked well with back cyc projections. Backing tracks were expertly controlled leaving no long waits. Costumes were all suitable and in period. Claire Murnin did a grand job of casting and directing a really entertaining show.
