The atmospheric St Mary’s church now allowed to have multiple uses, was transformed into a magical land, and we were greeted by giant LED toad stools as magic happened when The Savoy Youth Theatre gave their exciting performance of Alice in Wonderland .
The atmosphere was amazing and this company gave their energised and enthusiastic performances in this special venue.
Everyone of the cast on stage who had only had a few weeks to rehearse this show were totally involved, word perfect and gave their all.
Little Alice Erin Morris and Grown Alice both excelled , giving charming and lovely performances good diction and also strong in defence when their heads might have been chopped off by the Red Queen!!
This story by Lewis Carroll gives any youth company the chance to include everyone with a named part and it was a fabulous choice for The Savoy Youth Theatre and written and directed by the ever talented Sam Densham. The story begins with Little Alice reading a boring book on a hot day in Summer when a White Rabbit hops by, played very well by Kit Adams speaking the famous words ‘I’m late I’m late for a very important date’ with his watch in his waistcoat pocket which fascinates Alice and she follows him down a rabbit hole to a land of exciting adventures and the strangest happenings. Alice meets all these wondeful characters a Cheshire Cat n well played by Jay Beard and so many fabulous creatures, Caterpillar Elliott Appleton, Aunt, Esme Caitlin Walters a magnificent Red Queen from Hamish Sperring Mad Hatter, Lucinda Sperring The March Hare, Laurie Crowe-Urbaniak, Then The Duchess, Roy Johns arrived with the Cook, Harvey Brown The Dodo, Skylar Douglas Thorp and a simply lovable pair Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee from Riley and Daniel Rawsthorne With a fantastic supporting cast of Savoy Youth Theatre Juniors who played Mouse, Hedgehog, Dormouse, Flowers, Insects ,Owl, Bill Lizard, Queens Men, Duck.
Played so well by Henry, Lori ,Lili, Meri, Betsy, Oti, Theo, Georgia ,Saffron, imogen ,Bella Isabelle, Casey, Bodhi, Natalie, Rebekah, and Caitlin who all played these essential roles enthusiastically.
With outstanding costumes and makeup many congratulations on this special show you are all show stoppers and give your all to Savoy Youth Theatre.
