Aladdin Jr

Once again these very youngest members of Mayhem Youth Theatre pulled out all the stops to bring this magical musical to the stage. Everyone full of enthusiasm for this show and you could feel the excitement in the theatre as they took us to the Arabian nights looking the part in their creative costumes in front of a backdrop of the imaginative set design.

Outstanding sets all made by the Mayhem team, and effects made sure the magic stayed with us throughout the performances. A scintillating magic carpet brought Aladdin and Princess Jasmine close to the audience, it was very effective and safe!

The cast of over 30 young members worked brilliantly together with strong vocals and innovative Eastern inspired choreography.

Every production of Aladdin is fascinated by The Genie, well, who would not want their 3 wishes granted , and this one from Gulliver Fortet was fabulous. His entrances and exits were spot on and a good powerful voice.

Aladdin from Otis Latham played an excellent part great mannerisms and characterisation was excellent, and his reaction with Princess Jasmine, Esmee Regan very good. Esmee played a beautiful star part with lovely contrast to her character and excellent vocals and together they made a well cast duo.

A strong performance of The Sultan from Elliot Morgan, and all the many other parts were all so very well played, not forgetting Camilla the Camel another star of the show !!!

This was a special and challenging production for these young people and they all worked so hard to make it a great success. Mayhem always encourage their young people to take on the production team roles and this time Laurence Regan is to be praised for his Stage Director role for this show. and Amelia Bartlett-Smith and Leila Martine for their co Directing and Choreography.
