For the first time in many years  Wimborne Musical Theatre Society’s choice of main show for 2024 was this  delightful pantomime “Aladdin and his amazing lamp” . The original script was written by Roy Joseph who, prior to his passing in 2018, had for many years been the director of WMTS. The company chose to perform this pantomime as a tribute to Roy.

This was certainly a very enjoyable production and each member of the small cast certainly worked hard to liven up and draw a response from the rather small Saturday night audience.

I thought that all the vocals from the principal character’s were all very good throughout, and the musical numbers were all well selected to suit. Personally I found that the chorus members were difficult to hear, because they were often over powered by soloists with microphones and the accompanying  music.

I thought performer playing Aladdin was excellent, as were the Chinese Policemen. WisheeWashee and Widow Twanky worked hard on the comedy routines, which had the few children in the audience shouting out loud and laughing quietly throughout the show

The very nice looking back cloths created a nice looking show and it created a lovely atmosphere. The colourful costumes ,some that very impressive, all looked super

It was very a entertaining pantomime, the children near me clearly loved the show,  a larger audience would have made a big difference to the atmosphere.

My Congratulations  go to the very enthusiastic hardworking cast ,and the unseen  supporting members of the company.  Well done to all
