Aladdin is always one of the most popular pantomimes second only perhaps to Cinderella with many wonderful characters to play and this production was full of excellently cast principals. The principal boy Aladdin (Amanda Eyre) and principal girl Princess Jasmine (Melanie Dixon) both acted and sung with great charm and superb confidence. Nigel Dixon did, as usual prove that he has few equals when it comes to playing the part of a Dame, his Widow Twankey was superb. Andrew Holdsworth (Ali-Gator) kept the whole show on the boil his very energetic performance was much enjoyed by all. Gareth Jones was a most commanding and impressive Abanazer generating much hissing and booing. The performance of the almost statutory 'If I Was Not In Pantomime' got its usual wonderful audience reception. The show was well costumed. The stage sets, sound and lighting along with well choreographed dancing to well chosen musical numbers all added up to an excellent production.
