What a great atmosphere when there is a full house, especially when it is full of Beavers, Brownies, Scouts, Guides and Cubs. In fact, I think they should pay those Cubs on the front row next year, we had nearly as many ad-libs from them as Widow Twankey, played by Martin Lawor and he is "King" or should it be "Queen" of the ad-libs. A truly despicable Abanazar (John Nelson) was out witted by the Genie of the Lamp (Nick Clenton). Aladdin, (Rachel O'Connor) and Princess Manderin, (Victoria Taylor) were a lovely leading pair with good strong singing voices and acted their roles with conviction. Wishee Washee (Bethany Beal) was a delight, strong on comedy and a good foil for Widow Twankey. The opening of Act Two, the Laundry scene was hilarious, packed with fun and good quips. An excellent flourescent scene as the characters made their way to Egypt along with Flying Carpets, Coolie Hats and Parasols. I was quite impressed with the sing-a-long this year "How to use a Brillo Pad" to the tune of Ammerillo. Lovely colourful costumes with lots of sparkle in the finale as they sang round the Christmas Trees, to "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" along with snow and fairy lights. A good script, scenery and great lighting all added to the evenings entertainment. Did we enjoy it? Yes we did.
