Panto season has started, and it was with great pleasure that I joined a very excited audience at the Caldicot Choir Hall for the Caldicot Musical Theatre Society’s adaption of the David Swan pantomime, Aladdin.
Performed and directed in the best of panto tradition, the characters gave us everything we expected but with an added twist to make the production both personal and pleasing to the local audience. The Magic Rugby Ball taking the place of the lamp, was greatly appreciated but the appearance of “Nessa” as the Genie, played by Aylish Dunne had the audience cheering.
A beautiful Duet from Angharad Elson as Princess Jasmine and Bryn Geary as Aladdin was greatly appreciated by the audience and came with an excellent performance from both Principles.
Where would Panto be without the great Dame; Mathew Geary as Widow Twanky, kept the audience amused and the show rolling; a larger-than-life performance that didn't falter.
A very well done to Arwen Skinner as Wishy Washy. Energetically played throughout and a pleasure to watch.
Abanazer the character everyone loves to hate. Played by William Shannon. The audience Jeered, booed, and shouted loudly, so a very successful performance.
Seen so many times the song and actions of the Twelve Days of Christmas must be mentioned. Fast, furious, and funny. The best rendition I have ever seen.
My congratulations to all the cast and the production team for a most enjoyable show. The audience was with you every step of the way and left smiling. There is no greater accolade.
